With backpack space at a premium and igloo conditions on overnight buses, selecting a blanket for the journey can be a difficult task.
The solution? Make one:
- Buy two flat queen sheets (used ones at a thrift store will likely cost a couple of bucks).
- Lay them flat on top of each other.
- Fold them once down the middle of the longer edge.
- Sew around all edges and down the middle in two or three places.
Voila. A perfectly-sized travel blanket that feels weighty, has layers of air to keep the warmth in, and packs down to the size of a folded shirt.
