The perfect ‘blanket’ for BlinkPacking

With backpack space at a premium and igloo conditions on overnight buses, selecting a blanket for the journey can be a difficult task.

The solution? Make one:

  1. Buy two flat queen sheets (used ones at a thrift store will likely cost a couple of bucks).
  2. Lay them flat on top of each other.
  3. Fold them once down the middle of the longer edge.
  4. Sew around all edges and down the middle in two or three places.

Voila. A perfectly-sized travel blanket that feels weighty, has layers of air to keep the warmth in, and packs down to the size of a folded shirt.
